Trash-free smoking made easy!

Every second, 150,000 cigarette butts are thrown onto the ground, adding up to 4.5 trillion cigarette butts every year worldwide.

EU-wide, cigarette butts account for €13 billion in cleaning costs every year and have a harmful impact on the environment. They contain hazardous chemicals such as cadmium, arsenic and lead, and enough nicotine to kill a small child. Stricter health regulations have led to smokers being pushed out onto the streets, bus stops and public squares. With 25% of Europeans being regular smokers, litter is increasingly becoming a problem for local authorities and private property owners in places where there are no ashtrays available.

The Berlin-based start-up Nano-Bin is the third company founded by Alice Hertz Dahl. With the Nano-Bin, smokers now have a convenient way to dispose of their cigarette butts. The bin is a mobile non-flammable, airtight ashtray, enabling smokers to avoid dropping toxic cigarette butts on the ground.

Nano-Bin is being marketed to private event organisers and public institutions in order to enable as many consumers as possible to dispose of their cigarette butts in a convenient and sustainable way. It is available for sale in bulk or smaller quantities via an online-shop at www.nano-bin.se
