HSM Live Scotland success

HEALTH AND Safety Matters Live took place in Scotland at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on the 16 November and was a huge success. The conference and exhibition, which was co-located with a sustainability conference organised by NEBOSH, was attended by over 400 delegates.

We would like to extend our thanks to our headline sponsor MSA, registration sponsor Evotix, theatre sponsors EcoOnline and Safety Chair and sponsors Unigloves, Sundström Safety, Drager, Stanley, Tilsatec, Martor, Fire Safe International, Shawcity and The Safety Knife Company as bag sponsor. Without the support of our sponsors, we could not put on this free event.

We also benefitted from our supporting partners – NEBOSH, the Health and Safety Executive, British Safety Industry Federation and Institute of Occupational Medicine. All provided knowledgable sessions in the theatres. Between sessions, delegates could peruse the exhibition of 50 exhibitors. With such a wealth of knowledge in the room, visitors really had a fulfilling day and also benefited from CPD certificates for attending the conference sessions.

With two theatres running concurrently, delegates were spoilt for choice. Some of the session highlights included Taking the Risk Out of Specifying PPE and Safety Equipment delivered by Roy Wilders from The British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF). Jim Cliff from MSA explored Key Considerations When Choosing an Appropriate Hard Hat and Rob Leech from EcoOnline gave an Introduction of AI into The World of Health and Safety.

The day concluded with a mock trial, delivered by DAC Beachcroft and was a real crowd-puller. In fact, we had to take down the wall between the theatres so that all our delegates could take part. The case was based on a real case study and with the audience as jury, they gave the verdict.

The event provided fantastic networking opportunities with like-minded OSH professionals and was a great chance to forge new connections and share experiences and best practice. As the only free event in health and safety taking place in Scotland, it was not surprising that so many visitors came to our inaugural event.

Kelly Rose, Editor of HSM said, “This was the first installment of HSM Live and it was a huge success with delegates and exhibitors reporting what a beneficial day it was. I had the pleasure of chairing one of the theatres and the content was varied, relevant and and delivered by industry leading figures.

“Thank your for those who attended. For those who couldn't make it, don't worry as we have the Coventry edition of HSM Live on 27 June 2024 so I look forward to seeing you there!”
