Lorien Engineering Solutions has achieved its 23rd Gold Award and 9th Order of Distinction from RoSPA, recognising its long standing commitment to workplace safety.
In addition the business, which provides engineering design, project management and technical consulting services, has been recognised with its first MORR (Management of Occupational Road Risk) Silver Award from RoSPA.
The awards, which were launched by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) almost 60 years ago, recognise a consistently high performance in Occupational Health & Safety in Construction.
The scheme looks not only at accident records, but also entrants’ overarching health and safety management systems, including important practices such as strong leadership and workforce involvement.
Lorien’s Health & Safety Manager Brian Youl, said: "These awards continues to mean a lot to the people within our business. They demonstrate both the consistency in our performance, as well as our drive for continuous improvement. The awards not only recognise a company’s health and safety record, but also how the business is developing its systems and people.
"We’re particularly pleased this year to achieve our first MORR Award from RoSPA. Compared to other work environments, about three times as many employees die or are seriously injured in road accidents while driving for work purposes, so this is an important way of benchmarking our fleet’s performance.”
Lorien also offers specialist advice in other areas of safety such as CE-Marking and PUWER reviews of production equipment, DSEAR/ ATEX assessment of potential explosive atmospheres, and HAZOP of process plants. In this respect, Lorien offers its clients a one-stop shop when it comes to engineering safety best practice during capital investment projects.
