Translyft have recently removed a
dock leveller in a supermarket
loading bay as it had become too
expensive to maintain. The welds on
the main hinge were beginning to
show cracks and Translyft engineers
recommended that a replacement
unit should be installed. Translyft
carried out a survey of the existing
dock leveller pit, and subsequently
produced full specification drawings
before manufacturing a replacement
unit in approximately four weeks.

Translyft then liaised with the client
to arrange a mutually convenient
date to remove the old leveller and
install the new one.
The new dock leveller arrived on a
hiab vehicle, and was set down to
one side. The hiab was then used to
remove the old unit which was cut
out of the existing frame. The old
leveller was removed from the site to
a local scrap yard, the vehicle then
returned to the site and installed the
new dock leveller. New buffers were
fixed to the dock and the unit was
tested and commissioned. The whole
project took approximately six hours,
and before the engineers left the first
deliveries were arriving.
