Reinforcing its commitment to sustainability, materials handling manufacturer George Utz is now generating its own energy to help run operations at Alfreton in Derbyshire, with the installation of solar energy panels.

The 210 Bosch photovoltaic solar panels and 3 SMA solar inverters were installed on the factory roof by Nottingham energy company Life Long Energy.

As a plastics manufacturer, George Utz has always taken its environmental responsibilities very seriously and in 2010 was awarded ISO 14001:2004 accreditation, in recognition of its efforts to reduce its impact on the environment.

The company also runs a recycling facility where old product is "chipped up" and the materials re-used to produce new equipment.
