Armacell has relaunched its technical calculation program and, for the first time, also provides the ArmWin tool for use on smartphones and tablets.
The program can be used to carry out all the common technical calculations for refrigeration/air conditioning and heating/plumbing applications – and now directly whilst working on site. The ArmWin program calculates the insulation thicknesses required to protect building equipment and industrial installations against heat losses, freezing or condensation. The tool is developed according to the ISO 12241 standard that defines the rules for the calculation of heat-transfer-related properties of building equipment and industrial installations, predominantly under steady-state conditions. ArmWin can also be used to determine: surface temperature; heat flow; temperature changes in flowing and stationary media; freezing times for water pipes; and economical insulation thicknesses, ie those with the shortest pay back periods.
The ArmWin calculation tool is now also available as a free to download app for the first time. The new online, offline and app versions all now require fewer inputs from the user than with earlier versions, with more drop down menu options and new features including the possibility of entering the specific project data in question and saving calculations to PDF.
In addition ArmWin provides various interactive functions; the calculations can be mailed directly, the program links directly to the relevant product information on the Armacell website and the key calculation terms are listed in a new glossary section. The ArmWin app has been developed for iOS, BlackBerry and Android operating systems and can be downloaded from the App Store, BlackBerry World and Google Play.
