It's show time

Safety & Health Expo, the UK based safety exhibition will be held at ExCeL London from 17-19 June. Visitors to the exhibition will find a superlative speaker programme and the latest in innovative, market-defining products.

The exhibition is 30% bigger this year, with over 320 exhibitors. It was sold out 8 weeks before the event in what is tipped to be one of the most exciting events in the health and safety calendar in 2014. For the 1st time, the IOSH 2014 conference will also be held at the show.

The national show which used to be held in Birmingham and is being held in London for the first time this year, covers everything from training and consultancy providers to behavioural safety, drug and alcohol awareness, information services, publications, legal firms, as well as PPE suppliers. There will also be innovations from further afield with a fifth of exhibitors coming from overseas, highlighting the important role the UK market represents internationally.

Innovation trail
One of the key new features for the event is the innovation trail, which is an easy way for visitors to investigate the new products and services on offer. Also, there is a  new app that visitors can use to build an agenda that suits them and their needs.

The leading associations will be participating in the exhibition, including the British Safety Industry Federation, which will be hosting a product innovation village. RoSPA will host its awards ceremony on 17 June and of course, IOSH, which will, as ever have a huge presence within the event itself. BOHS is delivering the occupational hygiene theatre, looking at many topics including skin cancer in construction.

A key educational feature will be the SHP legal and cultural arena – a forum dedicated to safety culture and legal issues, hosted by some of the country’s top lawyers including Simon Toseland, Workplace Law and Kevin Bridges, Pinsent Masons. They will be looking at key issues such as how to handle regulators, doing HSE interviews under caution and employee engagement.

Another vibrant feature planned for the exhibition is Safety and Health LIVE! This involves 25-minute live showcase slots demonstrating equipment and PPE with lights, music and fabulous models! This will run across the three-day event.

Other areas include the working at height knowledge base, which will provide practical and engaging demonstrations centered on advancing safety, best practice and competency when working at height. IKAR are also running a Fall Arrest and Rescue demonstration zone.

LiftEx 2014, which is the UK’s only exhibition dedicated to lifting equipment, will be co-locating with the Safety & Health Expo. It will feature companies such as Crosby Group and Checkmate.

IOSH Conference
The IOSH 2014 conference is set to welcome the great and the good from across health and safety. The theme this year is inspiring leadership and covers global risk management and legal and regulatory issues. Key speakers include Lord Richard Dannett, from Head of the British Army, the renowned Dominic Copper and leadership guru, Prof. Sidney Dekker, will all be participating.

Running alongside the conference will be CorsSkills+, which provides delegates with a conference like experience but at a much reduced cost. The programme is made up of hour-long workshops that give practical know-how on common issues. It is divided into soft skills workshops around communications, cultural change and influencing your organization and global health and safety challenges that covers the areas of safety management, leadership skills and working at height.
Safety & Health Expo is being presented as part of UBM Live’s protection and management series, six major shows in related marketplaces covering safety, energy, environment, facilities, security and fire.

Visitors will have free entry across all six shows, with access to 18 educational theatres and the 1,400 companies participating on the show floors.
Both Safety & Health Expo and IOSH 2014 can be easily accessed on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) by alighting at Prince Regent station, the stop after Custom House for ExCeL.
