Dewalt has now provided workers with a cut resistant boot.
The new style known as Crossfire has passed the CE EN ISO 20345:2011 cut resistant test above a level 2. In order to get the footwear to certify above level 2 the upper material has to go through the following testing: 1) Abrasion Resistance, where the materials must undergo at least 500 cycles; 2) Circular Blade Cut Resistance, the minimum requirement is 2.5 index; 3) Tear Resistance, the material has to score a minimum of 25 N; 4) Puncture Resistance, the material has to score a minimum of 60 N.
The testing is vigorous and Dewalt says it passed thanks to the new Kevlar upper. The Kevlar is said to make the upper of the boot up to three times stronger than a regular leather upper. This means the Crossfire boot is suitable for carpenters, floor layers or anyone else who uses a knife in the work place.
The upper is also water resistant and to make the boot lightweight Dewalt has incoprorated an aluminium toe cap and composite midsole.
