Manhole Buddy from Sunrise Tools & Equipment permits an average build person, male or female, working alone, to lift a drain cover equal to their weight, using minimal physical effort. Lifting covers up to 100 kg is commonplace with this equipment.

In use, a Manhole Buddy comprises a Lifting Trolley and one of four Cover Attachments. The MagTec magnetic attachment provides a fast and secure means of lifting metallic covers without the need to clear the key slots. Alternatively, Manhole Buddy KeyTec can be used on any cover featuring key slots or threaded lifting points. VacTec is a manually energised vacuum attachment for smooth-faced covers. ChainTec is an adjustable chain-attached device.

With all Manhole Buddy configurations, raising the cover is achieved by pushing downwards on the trolley handle, thereby removing the risk of back injuries. The lifting trolley has a secondary high leverage lifting point which permits covers to be loosened without the use of levers, wedges or heavy hammers. All Manhole Buddy items are hand portable. The trolley folds easily into a compact form and can be carried in the boot of a small car.

Manhole Buddy is entirely safe for one person operation, particularly because the operator stands a safe distance from the cover and the open chamber.
