The British Compressed Gases Association has appointed a new national president to support the trade body’s continued growth.
Tony Edwards has pledged to do ‘more of the same’ in the elected role, building on the continuing success of the BCGA and its growing membership base.
Mr Edwards, the MD of Nottingham-based Luxfer Gas Cylinders, takes over the national president’s role from Richard Gearing, head of regional operations at BOC UK & Ireland.
Mr Gearing was instrumental in developing the BCGA’s ‘Invisible Industry’ strategy, which promotes a positive understanding of the compressed gases sector and the benefits association members bring to the UK.
Working closely in support of BCGA chief executive Doug Thornton, Mr Edwards will help raise awareness of the sector and enhance relationships with government and other key representatives during his two-year term in office. He will also support the association’s active role in influencing safety.
Mr Edwards said: “I am delighted to have been elected to the role and look forward to my term of office. Richard Gearing has done an excellent job for the past two years and I hope I can follow in those footsteps.
