DAVID GRAY, the managing director of TB Davies (Cardiff) Ltd has become the vice chairman of the Ladder Association.
David Gray takes on the prestigious role in the UK-wide industry membership association which issues guidance, campaigns for safety, and organises training for people working at height.
Mr Gray has been involved with the association for eight years and has worked for family firm TB Davies (Cardiff) Ltd for more than 30 years. The ladder specialist company celebrated its 75th anniversary in November 2020 and Mr Gray is the great grandson of its founder, Thomas Bryn Davies.
Mr Gray said, “With over two million ladders in daily use in the UK alone, and falls from height the number one killer in the workplace, there is a clear need for training. The Ladder Association plays such an important role in driving up standards and improving health and safety in the construction, warehousing, retail, and manufacturing sectors.
“It’s an honour to have been appointed vice chairman for the next three years and I’m looking forward to supporting the chair Gail Hounslea of Ladderstore Ltd and deputy chair John Greene of Lyte Ladders & Towers Ltd in their roles.
“I’m also delighted to be working closely with the association’s executive director Peter Bennett OBE, the managing director of PASMA, the only organisation in the world dedicated to advancing safety, standards and best practice in the mobile access tower industry.”
Based in Glasgow, the Ladder Association has a council of eight members upon which Mr Gray also sits, and training and technical committees. Its code of practice covers ladder standards, ladder care, safe use of ladders, and safety when working at height.
It works closely with organisations like the Access Industry Forum, Hire Association Europe, and the Health & Safety Executive.
