Providing extra care

Keepmoat – a national housing and regeneration specialist – has contracted the Gateshead branch of Deborah Services Ltd (DSL) hire and sales division to supply vital work-at-height safety equipment to the new £11.4 million Extra Care scheme in Sunderland.

The local hire and sales branch is supplying more than 900m2 of Rhino Deck System to the housebuilding teams working at height at the independent living project located in Southwick.

One of the most stable systems on the market, the Rhino Deck bespoke fall prevention system, is favoured by bricklayers and house builders due to its ability to take a load up to 600kg/m2 whilst minimising the risk of a fall from height.

Freestanding and safe up to 3m, it does not need a wall for lateral support which makes it suitable for a variety of trades.

Jim Burton, branch manager at the DSL Gateshead hire and sales branch said, "We are delighted to be part of such a fundamental local project with Keepmoat.

Rhino Deck is our most popular access product as it is easier to install, dismantle, move and store than traditional scaffolding. Two workmen can fit 50m2 in an hour as its robust components fit together securely without using hand tools.”

The Housing and Care 21, Extra Care development is due to be finished in early 2016 and will provide a total of 130 homes for the over 55s. The scheme lies in Carlyhill Road in Southwick and includes a mix of extra care apartments and self-contained bungalows.

Keepmoat have commended the Gateshead branch for demonstrating superior service throughout the project, and acting efficiently at all times to ensure health and safety has been at the forefront of the project delivery.
