ELOKON, a developer and supplier of safety and assistance systems for industrial vehicles, AGVs and cobots, has added another award to its collection.
A finalist in the Safety Category of the Plant Engineering Product of the Year Award, ELOKON’s ELOshield proximity detection/anti-collision system for forklifts and pedestrians was announced overall Gold Winner at the annual Engineering Awards in Manufacturing event at the ProMat trade show in Chicago.
Kevin Bradley vice president of sales and operations of ELOKON’s new US subsidiary, ELOKON Inc, says: “ELOshield, which uses UWB wireless technology to prevent vehicle-to-pedestrian and vehicle-to-vehicle collisions, has now won four major awards in North America and Europe. We are very proud to bring such an innovative solution for material handling safety to the workplace.
"Forklift accidents are unfortunately still far too common, particularly those involving pedestrians. ELOshield’s automated driver-assistance technology warns both drivers and pedestrians in the warehouse when they are in unsafe situations and helps prevent accidents.”
The ELOshield system has two safety zones – warning and protection – which can trigger different system reactions, such as automatic vehicle slow-down. Each zone can be flexibly programmed for distance and shape.
The Plant Engineering Product of the Year Award is a premier honour for products in both the manufacturing and non-manufacturing industries, with 88 finalists in 15 categories.
“The Gold Award for ELOshield is further confirmation that our safety and assistance systems for industrial vehicles are the up-to-the-minute solutions for the current challenges in the intralogistics sector,” says Bradley.
In 2018 this safety guard won the MHI Innovation Award and the Best of Industry prize and, in 2017, it was the overall winner of the handling award.
