Reducing burns and saving lives

Every year many thousands of people are burnt by petrol fires when using petrol cans. Around 1500 people are admitted to burns units for treatment and between three and six people die as a result of horrific petrol fire burns.  

Many people do not realise how dangerous petrol can be; for instance five litres of petrol has the same explosive energy as 13 sticks of dynamite.

Safety fuel cans incorporating Fill & Stop safety inserts in their spout offer a simple, low cost and effective way of reducing the risks associated with dispensing petrol. The independently tested inserts are fitted to the end of the fuel can spout by the fuel can manufacturer. 

The inserts incorporate an integral flash arrestor to prevent fuel can explosions whilst a high flow air vent ensures smooth fast filling of the tank. The patented shut off system prevents overfilling of the tank by automatically shutting off flow when the tank is full, which is said to save fuel and greatly reduce the risk of fire and explosion.
