A total of 26 of Bilco's REM polyester powder coated smoke vents have been fitted in the roofs of new residential buildings in a section of the Isle of Dogs regeneration scheme known as the Crossharbour project. Seven of the vents can also be used as access hatches to permit maintenance of equipment mounted on the roof of the building.

All of the vents are of single leaf design and are fitted with the company's Bilguard railing system to ensure the safety of people on the roofs.

There are four standard sizes of Bilco's 50-REM vents available from stock, offering both 1.0 and 1.5 square metres of clear vent areas. Special sizes are also available - and three of the vents supplied to the Crossharbour project were built to special dimensions.

The linear actuators fitted to the vents ensure positive and controlled operation in accordance with EN12101.

The overlapping cover design, fully welded corners on the cover and curb, EPDM rubber gasket and fully insulated cover and curb help architects and specifiers to meet Building Regulation requirements for air tightness and thermal efficiency.
