When they need to be operated on,
horses at the Equine Centre in
Newmarket must be anaesthetised
and carefully hoisted into the
operating theatre. The reliability of
the hoists used for this purpose is of
the utmost importance.
Having used GIS EM hoists in a
previous surgery, the senior partner
of the veterinary practice, David
Ellis, contacted lifting contractor
EST at the planning stage and gave
carte-blanche to specify, supply and
install all of the lifting equipment
with the proviso that GIS products
were the first choice where available.
Peter Ashford of Lift Turn Move,
the UK agent for GIS and original
supplier of the hoists, visited the
Newmarket Equine Hospital last
month to see the hoists in action.
"This just goes to show the
engineering quality of these hoists.
These are standard GIS hoists in situ
in a wet room, where they are
exposed to a damp environment
including intermittent hosing down,
and the hoists are performing
magnificently."
