Safer welding

Recognising the risk to health posed by the radio toxic red tipped thoriated tungsten electrodes that are in wide use in the welding industry, Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT have developed MultiStrike Tungsten Electrodes that are free from the potentially harmful thoria.

With non-radio toxic rare earth elements, MultiStrike Tungsten Electrodes can be used for welding aluminium with the AC process as well as steels and alloys with the DC process.

MultiStrike Tungsten Electrodes contain a mix of non-radioactive rare earth elements, which are said to dramatically lower the working temperature of the tungsten, so making it longer lasting than all other tungsten electrodes used for TIG and Plasma welding.

Other tungsten electrodes work at higher temperatures so their oxide additions (mostly radioactive) burn out, or evaporate faster than those non radioactive ingredients in MultiStrike. MultiStrike is claimed to give at least 10 times the arc striking capacity of other tungsten electrodes under the same conditions.
