SEAWARD TESTERS are being specified by a commercial training company to deliver improved levels of PAT (portable appliance testing) training to organisations across the UK.
South West-based TTS Training Services Ltd provides a range of professional health and safety training for all types of industry and commerce, including one day courses covering the IET’s Code of Practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment (5th Edition).
This sees its UKRS accredited courses delivered to electricians, premises managers, property owners and small business owners among others with varying degrees of safety expertise, equipping them with the requisite competencies to understand the legal requirements around electrical compliance testing and undertake workplace PAT testing.
TTS, which also delivers onsite training at customers own premises, estimates that in excess of a thousand people complete its PAT training courses each year and currently uses five portable Seaward PrimeTest 100 among other manufacturers’ testers, as an integral part of its skills development operations.
This is due to the tester’s ease-of-use and reliability, ensuring people who may not possess a high degree of technical knowledge can effectively carry out PAT testing on most of the types of electrical appliances found in the workplace, including kettles, PCs, microwaves and power tools.
Ian Cox, director of training at TTS, which currently employs four PAT trainers, said the PrimeTest 100 makes an excellent all-round training tester.
He added: “Seaward testers are an important asset in our training provision. It’s a beneficial teaching aid, allowing us to demonstrate clearly to people the practical applications and theories of PAT testing and the role testers play in checking appliances are safe and secure to use.
“The tester is a great piece of kit that continues to meet our requirements for a reliable, cost-effective tester that learners find simple-to-understand and easy-to-use. They really appreciate its value as a training aid and indeed, many have gone on to buy one for their own use.”
TTS, which retails the PrimeTest 100 as well as other Seaward testers, also uses the Apollo range of advanced testers for high volume PAT training purposes.
The PrimeTest 100 forms part of a comprehensive range of Seaward PAT instruments, accessories and software that have been specifically designed to meet the needs of electrical safety duty holders in all workplaces.
