May of 2014 marks the 60th Anniversary of Tractel UK, the business originally founded in 1954 as Tirfor. The company name was coined from the invention of the revolutionary Tirfor winch several years earlier, a product which is still sold today.
Founded on a principle of product innovation through engineering expertise, significant introductions over the years include the formation of the suspended access department in 1978, introduction of the Minifor winch in 1979, Tirak Hoist in 1981, Dynafor load indicators in 1982, Tralift chain blocks in 1987 and the inception of the Tractel height safety division in 1996. Today the company is one of the leading manufacturers of materials handling, height safety, load indicating and access products with annual turnover exceeding 5 million.
