SAFETY FOOTWEAR manufacturer V12 Footwear has shown its supporting women in engineering by sponsoring International Women In Engineering Day (INWED), which took place on the 23 June 2020.
V12 are renowned for their efforts towards designing and creating women’s fitted PPE; a need and challenge many women in the industry come up against.
INWED is an international awareness campaign which raises the profile of women in engineering and focuses attention on the amazing career opportunities available to girls in this exciting industry. It encourages women to show the world how they are ‘transforming the future’ in pursuit of more diversity in engineering. This global awareness campaign is coordinated by the Women’s Engineering Society (WES), a charity and a professional network of women engineers, scientists and technologists offering inspiration, support and professional development.
Ben Turner, the co-founder at V12 Footwear spoke about the importance of INWED, stating, "I think it's really important to keep raising the profile of women in engineering and INWED are fantastic at providing the opportunity for individuals to promote their abilities and achievements." Ben also commented on how V12 are helping #ShapeTheWorld, expressing that, “At V12 we encourage, promote and educate not only our customers but the wider community on the importance of correctly fitted PPE for women, in a hope that one day it is the norm and is easily accessible".
